{"id":111,"date":"2023-12-05T16:45:17","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T16:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weaponeering.com\/wordpress_install\/?page_id=111"},"modified":"2025-03-02T20:46:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-02T20:46:10","slug":"biography","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/weaponeering.com\/wordpress_install\/biography\/","title":{"rendered":"Biography"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-f56f613f wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:900px\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.773), 1.3rem);\">Dr. Morris Driels has taught Mechanical Engineering at universities in the UK and USA since 1973.&nbsp; Currently he is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California where he taught from 1989 to 2017.&nbsp; He has over 50 published journal articles, holds several patents and published textbooks in the fields of robotics, automatic control systems and weaponeering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.773), 1.3rem);\">Beginning in 1994 he worked in a research capacity for the Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness (JTCG\/ME) on a variety of Weaponeering subjects related to their mission.&nbsp; Starting in 2000, he began to teach a one-quarter graduate level course in Weaponeering to NPS students from a variety of curricula.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.773), 1.3rem);\">In 2004 he published through the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), what was considered to be the only comprehensive textbook on this subject, the first edition of &#8220;Weaponeering: Conventional Weapon System Effectiveness&#8221;, with the substantially expanded second and third editions appearing in 2013 and 2020 respectively.
